Wednesday, 2nd of Tammuz, 5783 – "Only now has science revealed why it is good to circumcise at the age of eight days." These are the words of His Holiness.

Rashi says in Parashat Chukat regarding the verse "And the Canaanite, the king of Arad" (Numbers 21:1), why specifically the Canaanite? Because Amalek changed his language to the Canaanite language. They changed the language; they knew 70 languages. Rashi says it was Amalek, not Canaanite, because the main thing is that it is forbidden to change the clothing, just as Amalek changed the language but not the clothing.

The clothing changes the essence of a person entirely. If a person removes their garment, their hat, they change their entire essence. Rashi says that changing language doesn't change like changing clothing!

From Hebron, Mamre gave Abraham heartfelt advice regarding circumcision. What was the meaning of the advice Anar gave to Abraham about circumcision? (In the plains of Mamre, why specifically in the plains of Mamre and not elsewhere? Because Mamre gave him advice about his own circumcision. "God said to Abraham, 'You shall circumcise.' So, circumcise!" There are dozens of interpretations on this matter. Anar and Eschkol said to Abraham, "You shall make a covenant through circumcision, but do not do it secretly, for in Hebron they explicitly said not to do so.

On this very day, the Midrash states, they said, "If you start cutting people... they have never seen such a thing. Abraham is the first to be circumcised. This is the first time a circumcision covenant is made. Before this, everyone was born circumcised. Noah, Shem, and Methuselah were born circumcised" (Tanchuma Noah 5). There is no such thing as suddenly starting to circumcise a person at the age of eight days. It is complete madness. There is nothing like this in the entire world. In Germany, they are trying to abolish circumcision, but there are also Arabs.

They took Rabbi Metz's Rabbi to prison for two days, they said, "What should we do with the Arabs? You have two million Arabs. Okay, you can work on Jews, tell them that whoever performs circumcision will be taken to prison, but what should we do with the Arabs?"

So they canceled the whole law!

And that's how they try each time to legislate new laws against circumcision, but the Arabs also perform circumcision. It is a miracle that Arabs also practice circumcision; otherwise, they would prohibit circumcision. Taking a baby at the age of eight days and starting to circumcise him?

Now scientifically check that only at the age of 8, the body secretes a substance that hardens on the spot within a second. Usually, it takes a few minutes for the blood to clot, but in the case of an infant, a special clotting substance is released, and it only happens at 8 days old. Within a second, the blood clots. The baby only cries a little at the beginning when the device, the iron, is applied to him, but after a second, he stops crying. The baby does not feel any pain from it.

Only the Torah discovered this. If not for the Torah, no one would have dared to do such a thing. The Torah reveals that at the age of 8 days, it is already possible to circumcise the child, to perform the brit milah. The baby cannot tolerate the foreskin for a second longer, so the circumcision must be done immediately after the required waiting period. It is forbidden to do it in the middle of the day for the baby; it causes terrible distress. He doesn't want the foreskin, not even for a second; he is not ready.

(Dans les plaines de Mamré, pourquoi spécifiquement dans les plaines de Mamré et pas ailleurs ? Parce que Mamré lui a donné des conseils sur sa propre circoncision. Quand le Tout-Puissant a commandé à Abraham de se circoncire, Abraham a consulté son ami. Anar lui dit : "Tu as déjà plus de quatre-vingt-dix ans, et tu te tourmenteras." Mamré lui dit : "Rappelle-toi le jour où les Chaldéens t'ont jeté dans la fournaise ardente et la famine qui a frappé le monde, comme il est écrit : 'Il y eut une famine dans le pays, et Abram descendit en Égypte', et ces rois les ont poursuivis, mais le Tout-Puissant t'a sauvé d'eux, et personne ne peut te nuire. Lève-toi et accomplis les commandements de ton Maître." Le Tout-Puissant dit à Mamré : "Mamré, tu lui as donné des conseils sur la circoncision. Par ta vie, je me révèle uniquement dans ta chambre, comme il est écrit dans les plaines de Mamre." (Zohar Vayera 17). Et est-ce qu'Abraham a besoin de conseils ? Avons-nous besoin de conseillers pour Abraham ?!

"Dieu dit à Abraham : 'Tu te circonciras.' Alors, circoncis !" Il y a des dizaines d'interprétations sur cette question. Anar et Eschkol dirent à Abraham : "Tu établiras une alliance par la circoncision, mais ne le fais pas en secret, car à Hébron ils ont explicitement dit de ne pas le faire.

Et c'est ainsi qu'ils essaient à chaque fois de légiférer de nouvelles lois contre la circoncision, mais les Arabes pratiquent également la circoncision.
