🇺🇸 On the night of Sunday, the first of the month of Tamuz, a group of our community members entered the holy city of Jerusalem to hear the words of the living God from our esteemed teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland, may he be protected.

Before you is documentation from the lesson, along with several points that our teacher discussed during the lesson, based on what we managed to see and write down on this sheet:

The lesson began with our teacher discussing the well of Miriam, stating that whoever drinks water from it after Shabbat will merit all healings, as Miriam's well travels to all the wells and springs. While discussing this, our teacher mentioned Miriam's merit in obtaining the well, as for eighty years she served as the midwife for the entire Jewish people and saw what would happen when Amram separated from Yocheved.

He then discussed various topics, including mentioning the prophet Elijah at the rock of Akel where he fasted for forty days and forty nights, and said that from the age of twenty, one no longer needs to eat a full meal, just a little. He also spoke about the greatness of the Baal Shem Tov and the exceptional nature of their way of eating.

Later on, our teacher read from the Chasam Sofer about the magnitude of the prohibition of leaving Jerusalem, and it is written there that all the noise in Tzfat was because they left Jerusalem and moved to Tzfat. He also quoted the Ramban, who said, "Avraham committed a great sin" when he descended to Egypt. He hinted that when one remains close to the righteous, they merit abundant blessings, and he also mentioned Ovadiah's wife, who, thanks to Elisha, had an abundance of oil, and said that the righteous constantly exert their influence, and this oil is a hint to wisdom.

He also discussed the importance of the commandment of settling the land and quoted the Ramban, who said that it is a commandment that one must fulfill at every moment, and wherever a Jew settles, they merit fulfilling the verse "And you shall inherit it and dwell in it." He delved into the topic of spies and the greatness of each tribe, mentioning Zebulun's crown and Dan, who gathered all the camps. In the midst of his words, he delved into the hidden teachings of Kabbalah.

Continuing, he spoke about King Solomon and how Pharaoh tricked him by casting a spell, making him think it was still night. Then his mother came and cried, "What's wrong with me, and what's wrong with my womb? I am not like all the women of David's lineage who wanted their son to be king; I wanted him to be righteous."

Our teacher also discussed the lesson concerning the anniversary of the passing of Joseph the Righteous on the first of Tamuz, and the sale of Joseph. He also talked about the dispute of Korach and his assembly, and mentioned the Likutei Halachos, stating that those who swallowed the earth were the result of their disagreement with Moses, and when a person disputes the righteous, it impairs their vision and the covenant, causing them to be swallowed by the earth because they are burdened with sins. He also talked about the ban on the retailers that was imposed against Angel for dishonoring the Torah of the great sage, Rabbi Yaakov Idelstein, may his memory be a blessing, and shared stories of his greatness, such as how he would sleep on the floor and walk by foot to Lomza Yeshiva, where all the great scholars studied. During the discussion, our teacher expressed himself, saying that from the age of thirteen, he could not leave the Gemara for even a moment because it is such a pleasure that cannot be explained at all!

After nearly an hour of the lesson, our esteemed teacher concluded with the recitation of the Kaddish prayer and blessed those present. Afterwards, he led the evening prayer (Ma'ariv) with the majority of the congregation from the balcony of his home.

🇲🇫 Dans la nuit du dimanche, le premier du mois de Tamouz, un groupe de membres de notre communauté est entré dans la sainte ville de Jérusalem pour entendre les paroles du Dieu vivant de notre vénéré enseignant, le rabbin Eliezer Berland, que sa protection soit sur lui.

La leçon a commencé par notre enseignant discutant du puits de Miriam, affirmant que celui qui boit de son eau après le Shabbat méritera toutes les guérisons, car le puits de Miriam se déplace vers tous les puits et sources. Tout en discutant de cela, notre enseignant a mentionné le mérite de Miriam dans l'obtention du puits, car pendant quatre-vingts ans, elle a été la sage-femme pour tout le peuple juif et a vu ce qui se passerait lorsque Amram s'est séparé de Yocheved.

Il a ensuite abordé divers sujets, mentionnant notamment le prophète Élie sur le rocher d'Akel où il a jeûné pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits, et a déclaré qu'à partir de l'âge de vingt ans, il n'est plus nécessaire de manger un repas complet, juste un peu. Il a également parlé de la grandeur du Baal Shem Tov et de la nature exceptionnelle de leur manière de manger.

Plus tard, notre enseignant a lu le Chasam Sofer sur la gravité de l'interdiction de quitter Jérusalem, et il est écrit là-bas que tout le bruit à Tzfat était dû au fait qu'ils ont quitté Jérusalem et se sont installés à Tzfat. Il a également cité le Ramban, qui a déclaré : "Avraham a commis un grand péché" lorsqu'il est descendu en Égypte. Il a laissé entendre que lorsque l'on reste proche des justes, on mérite des bénédictions abondantes, et il a également mentionné la femme d'Obadia, qui, grâce à Élisée, avait une abondance d'huile, et a dit que les justes exercent constamment leur influence, et cette huile est un indice de sagesse.

Il a également discuté de l'importance du commandement de s'installer sur la terre et a cité le Ramban, qui a déclaré que c'est un commandement que l'on doit accomplir à chaque instant, et où que se trouve un Juif, il mérite de réaliser le verset "Et tu l'hériteras et tu y habiteras". Il s'est plongé dans le sujet des espions et de la grandeur de chaque tribu, mentionnant la couronne de Zebulon et Dan, qui a rassemblé tous les camps. Au milieu de ses paroles, il s'est plongé dans les enseignements cachés de la Kabbale.

Ensuite, il a parlé du roi Salomon et de la manière dont Pharaon l'a trompé en lançant un sort, le faisant croire qu'il faisait encore nuit. Ensuite, sa mère est venue et a pleuré : "Qu'y a-t-il de mal en moi et dans mon ventre ? Je ne suis pas comme toutes les femmes de la lignée de David qui voulaient que leur fils soit roi ; je voulais qu'il soit juste."

Notre enseignant a également abordé la leçon concernant l'anniversaire du décès de Joseph le Juste le premier de Tamouz et la vente de Joseph. Il a également parlé du différend de Korah et de son assemblée, et a mentionné le Likutei Halachos, affirmant que ceux qui ont été engloutis par la terre étaient le résultat de leur désaccord avec Moïse, et que lorsque quelqu'un conteste les justes, cela altère leur vision et l'alliance, les conduisant à être engloutis par la terre parce qu'ils sont accablés de péchés. Il a également parlé de l'interdiction imposée aux détaillants à l'encontre d'Angel pour avoir manqué de respect à la Torah du grand sage, le rabbin Yaakov Idelstein, que sa mémoire soit bénie, et a partagé des histoires de sa grandeur, comme le fait qu'il dormait par terre et se rendait à pied à la Yeshiva de Lomza, où tous les grands érudits étudiaient. Au cours de la discussion, notre enseignant s'est exprimé en disant que dès l'âge de treize ans, il ne pouvait pas quitter la Guemara ne serait-ce qu'un instant car c'est un tel plaisir qui ne peut être expliqué !

Après près d'une heure de leçon, notre vénéré enseignant a conclu par la récitation de la prière du Kaddish et a béni les présents. Ensuite, il a dirigé la prière du soir (Ma'ariv) avec la majorité de la congrégation depuis le balcon de sa maison.
