🇺🇸 The secret of Yonatan ben Uzziel [Yahrzeit 26th of Sivan]:

Yonatan ben Uzziel is surrounded by a consuming fire, and every bird that flies above him is burned! It is similar to Rabbi Elazar ben Arach, who was riding on a donkey while Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai was walking behind him. Rabbi Elazar ben Arach said to Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai, "Allow me, my master, to say one thing that you have taught me." He replied, "Speak!" Immediately, Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai descended from the donkey, wrapped himself in a tallit, and sat on a stone beneath the olive tree. Rabbi Elazar ben Arach said to him, "Why did you descend from the donkey?" Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai said to Rabbi Elazar ben Arach, "Is it possible for you to delve into the work of the divine chariot and the divine presence being with us, while ministering angels surround us, and I would ride on a donkey?!" Immediately, Rabbi Elazar ben Arach opened with the work of the divine chariot and began to expound.

And he expounded, and fire came down from heaven and surrounded all the trees on the mountain and in the field. Immediately, they all opened and said a song. What song did they say? "Praise the Lord from the heavens, you sea monsters and all depths, fruit tree and all cedars, hallelujah." An angel from heaven answered and said, "Behold, behold, the work of the divine chariot." Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai stood up and kissed his head, saying, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who has given such a son to our father Abraham" [Chagigah 14b].

Similarly, Rabbi Abbahu, when he was interpreting from the Torah to the Prophets and from the Prophets to the Writings, and fire would descend from heaven and surround him [Midrash Rabbah, Song of Songs, page 11].

Likewise, Rabbi Eliezer the Great and Rabbi Yehoshua, when they appeared at the circumcision of Elisha ben Avuyah, and Avuyah was one of the great wealthy men of Jerusalem, and they all came to the circumcision of Elisha ben Avuyah, and they were all speaking about matters of trade and commerce—from the gate of the dollar to the euro—Rabbi Eliezer ben Horkenus said to Rabbi Yehoshua, "It is incumbent upon us to engage in matters of the Torah."

We must escape from this place before our souls perish from excessive suffering! They found a room in the lower underground chamber and sat down, beginning to engage in discussions of Torah – from Torah to Prophets, and from Prophets to Writings. Then fire descended from the heavens and surrounded the entire house, and everyone fled. Avuya, the father of Elisha, came out to see the source of the fire and extinguish it. He discovered that the fire was bursting forth from a room in the lower chamber, so he broke down the door and saw Rabbi Eliezer ben Hurkenus sitting with Rabbi Yehoshua, and fire was emanating from between them. He said to them, "Have you come to burn down my house?!" They replied, "God forbid! We were immersed in the study of Torah, from Torah to Prophets, and from Prophets to Writings, and the words were as joyful as when they were given at Sinai." Similarly, Yonatan ben Uzziel was surrounded by fire day and night, and any bird that flew above him would be burned. (Talmud, Sukkah 28a)

Il leur dit : "Êtes-vous venus pour brûler ma maison ?!" Ils répondirent : "Que Dieu nous en préserve !
